7 Things I Learnt by Becoming a Blogger

Hello, lovely people!

Even though I’ve only had my blog for just under 18 months, blogging has somewhat changed the way I perceive the world around me. I thought it would be cool to share with all of you some of the things I learnt and discovered about myself and my surroundings during the past 18 months.

Do what you love, love what you do: not only is this my favourite quote, but it’s the mantra I live by. I turned my love of taking photos and fashion into something so much more than it could have ever been. If you love something so much then you should continue to do it forever and ever, and love every minute of it.
Not everyone likes me, but not everyone matters: you are not defined by the amount of followers you have. If people begin to unfollow you... So what?! Who cares! These people don’t know what they’re missing out on!
Be yourself and never be sorry for it: because you should never be sorry for having an opinion over a certain topic or liking a certain trend or TV show or music. These are things that make us all unique and we should embrace it, not be sorry about it!
It’s a tough world out there: people can be mean and very judgemental in this industry. As bloggers, we really need to grow a thick skin quickly. As young people, we can sometimes get too caught up in the criticisms we receive, but with a thick skin, it’s so much easier to take the criticism, turn into a positive and conquer the world!
There is so much to learn: I started my Instagram when I was only 15, and I didn’t really know anything about blogging, I just thought it was cool to post cool pictures on Instagram. Some of us are still young and we do have so much more to learn and so much to conquer in this particular industry, so just enjoy it! As we get older and experience more of the world, we will see that the things we post about are limitless and the ideas will flow naturally.
It’s ok to not know what you want to do with your life: once again, we are so young and we should never put all our eggs into one basket. Do well in school, travel the world, find out who you are and where you belong in the world and one day it’ll just all make sense.
Connections are important: not just with brands and businesses in terms of collaborations, but also with other bloggers. In the past 18 months, I’ve really learnt that my blogging friends are a lot nicer and caring than my school friends (truth). I’m actually friends with a few of my good blogging friends on Facebook and, in times where I need to chat, they are always there for me, and I will be forever grateful for that. This is also the sole reason I created the Blogger’s Society, a Facebook group where bloggers can join and connect with other bloggers.
